Zuzana Diamant, MD PhD.  Zuzana is a board certified chest physician and clinical pharmacologist; as such she collaborates with many (inter)national experts in the field and pharmaceutical industries both as scientific advisor and collaborator in (early) clinical trials of asthma/allergy and COPD. She advises on the strategy for drug development in these specific areas, including clinical study design, protocol writing, study report writing and medical writing. She also provides onsite training, monitoring  and clinical study conduct. Zuzana serves on editorial boards of two international journals in Respiratory Diseases. She acts as invited speaker on non-invasive airway sampling methods, biomarkers and asthma exacerbation models.

David Greaves, PhD. David is a consultant and award-winning innovator in information technology and publishing. With a background in physics research, considerable experience of running an international journal, and pioneering work in electronic publishing and internet services, David is able to realize goals in novel ways that are practical, rapid, and cost-effective. While at Elsevier, David realized a broad range of strategic objectives, such as the company’s first web article submission service and a solution for the backfiles project. Specialties include document submission, peer-review and input marketing, production and typesetting for high quality at high speed and low cost, domain-specific web services, search engines, handling and interpreting numerical data, images, scientific modeling, and algorithms. Currently his main focus is the creation of innovative solutions to support all aspects of publishing, building on the “best of the past” while taking full advantage of emergent new opportunities.

Gary Anderton. Gary, a native-English speaker (from New Zealand), runs Anderton Editing; he supplies editing and proofreading support to research scientists, academic institutions and companies. In addition, he can advise on online submission of articles to publishers (including the requirements of Editors and Reviewers in evaluating submitted material). At Elsevier Science, Gary worked as a desk editor/journal manager, managing and editing a wide range of academic journals. Before this, he worked for a major scientific society in London as an editor and proofreader, and for a newspaper/trade magazine publisher in Melbourne, Australia, as a proofreader.

Heidi Allen.  Heidi is a digital strategist and has over 15 years experience in the publishing and health industries, working internationally in England and Australia. This experience, developing social media strategies for major corporates, has helped her understand the challenges of developing a digital and social online strategy in a quickly evolving business ecosystem. Heidi runs the digital strategy for a clinical research site,  Bodyinmind.com.au and presents regularly on social media and strategy to businesses and associations. Her blog heidiallen.id.au comments on current trends within social media, health and publishing.

Ian Hughes, Ian Hughes, PhD. Ian is Professor of Pharmacology and Bioscience Education, UK Centre for Bioscience, Leeds University, England.  Research interests now are mainly in the field of bioscience education at university level. Particularly in the development and evaluation of innovative teaching methods, graduate employability, peer assessment and the use of audits to drive change in teaching. Most of this work is done in association with the Higher Education Academy Centre for Bioscience (which he co-directs). On the teaching side, Prof Hughes lectures to medics, dentists and science students and runs projects that are mainly literature or fieldwork based. He is part of the management team for the IDEAS CETL (interdisciplinary ethics teaching). Outside involvements include membership of the General Medical Council, the General Osteopathic Council and the Wellcome Trust/MRC Ethics and Governance Council for the UK Biobank Project

Susan Bos. Susan, a native English speaker, runs Medical Edit, a company offering editing and proofreading support to medical education agencies, pharmaceutical companies, publishers and research scientists. Susan has a medical background combined with many years of experience in the scientific publishing and medical education arenas. She has worked as a desk editor/journal manager for Elsevier Science Publishers, editing scientific and medical books and journals, and as an editorial project manager for Excerpta Medica (a medical communications agency), editing a wide range of materials from research papers to PowerPoint presentations for medical conferences.

Daniela Orsini. Daniela is a freelance acquisitions editor of medical-scientific publications. With a scientific background in immunology and 15+ years of experience in STM publishing (trained at Elsevier and Excerpta Medica), she offers publishing support by acquiring as well as editing publications in medical and scientific fields. She has worked for STM companies, communication agencies, professional training institutes and translation agencies.
